President's Message: May 14, 2026

I am super excited for Monday’s meeting where in addition to our speaker, Russell McMurray, we will feature Buckhead Rotary’s focus on our youth programs.

Rotary Youth Exchange or RYE student Leo Klein-Kraneberg will share highlights of his year in Atlanta. RYE is an international student exchange program for teens aged 15–19, and Buckhead Rotary sponsored Leo where he lived with three separate families as he attended North Atlanta High School. Leo’s exchange comes to an end in mid June when he returns to Germany.

We will also be treated to our Laws of Life winner, Lydia Bryant, Atlanta Classical Academy, who will read her winning essay. Buckhead Rotary is a proud Presenting Sponsor of Georgia Laws of Life essay contest, which is a character education and creative writing program for high school students. Buckhead Rotary’s sponsorship includes an annual financial contribution to the school.

Monday promises to be an exciting program with a nod to these two talented students. Come at 12 noon to network, meeting starts at 12:15 pm. See you at Maggiano’s.

This year's ACA Grade Winner, Lydia Bryant, will attend today's meeting to read her winning essay.

Lend a paw (or a hand) through our Pawsitivity Partnership bringing together Buckhead Rotarians supporting LifeLine's mission to keep pets with their people. We are delivering pet food to those in need. We will meet at OpenHand for an orientation and then each carload will hit the road to help our furry friends and their people.

Rotary on the Road: Fulton County Animal Shelter

Wear your  Buckhead Rotary Polo and join us for a delicious taco lunch and a short volunteer opportunity that enables Rotarians to put service above self. There will be tours for anyone who is interested. We meet in the conference room at the entrance so no need to walk through the shelter if that isn't your thing.
